Skip the drive from the burbs to Philly for an up-scale meal and go to Stove & Tap, where the drinks are cold and the food is fresh. Run by Starr veterans, Justin Weathers and Chef Biff Gottehrer, Stove & Tap offers American fare, that will leave you wanting to return.
Located in the heart of Lansdale, Stove & Tap is now a favorite of mine, offering reasonably priced food for all taste-buds. Healthy options for your vegetarian or allergy cursed friend and plenty of indulgences for a special occasion.
The Food:
Much of the menu is sourced in state. Meats are from a farm in Lancaster and much of the bread is made in-house or sourced from Hudson in New Jersey.
Corn and Asparagus Flatbread – This is vegetarian and can be made vegan by request, this flatbread is a veggie lovers treat with a mix of corn and thinly sliced asparagus that is easy to eat and topped with truffle oil to make your mouth water.
Beet Salad – Salad portions are large and full of nutrient rich toppings: beets (duh), goat cheese, red onion, cherry tomatoes and walnuts with their house made balsamic mustard dressing. The goat cheese and balsamic paired nicely for a smooth but tangy finish.
Po’ Boy – The fish po-boy is a highlight of the menu! Lightly breaded fish (no greasy aftertaste), topped with avocado, slaw and chipotle mayo are heavenly! It had just the right amount of crunch, with a smoky flavor from the mayo.
Smoked Chicken Pot Pie – While on the indulgence side, this dish has its perks.
1. Full of Veggies
2. House made bread
3. Protein packed with chicken.
I highly recommend. This is not your grandma’s pot-pie. The sauce and mix of ingredients taste more like a fine wine than a stew of mixed veggies.
The Service: Everyone was quick and knowledgeable about the menu.
The Price: All non-entrée items are around $10. Entrees range from $10-$19
On a diet or on a budget Stove & Tap will meet your needs. Enjoy!
